11/25/2018 4:46:00 PM | Men's Basketball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Justin Turner scored 29 points as Bowling Green ended Drexel's three-game winning streak with an 81-71 win at the Stroh Center. The Falcons (4-3) went on a 12-0 run late in the game to secure the win. Drexel fell to 3-3.
The Dragons trailed early in the second half by 10 but eventually chipped away and took a two-point lead when Troy Harper scored on a three-point play with 9:59 to play. However, the Falcons held the Dragons without a field goal for a span of more than five minutes and turned the deficit into a 10-point cushion. Drexel could get no closer than seven points the rest of the way.
Drexel's offense, which looked so good in the first half, disappeared in the final 20 minutes. The Dragons made just nine of 41 field goal attempts (.220) in the second half and were kept off the board for the first 5:15 of the half before Alihan Demir broke a 12-0 Bowling Gree run with a three-pointer.
Troy Harper led Drexel with 20 points off the bench. The senior was 6-for-15 from the floor and committed four of the team's 13 turnovers. Freshman Camren Wynter had 12 points, six assists and just one turnover, but finished just 5-for-16 shooting. Demir had his first double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Trevor John had three three-pointers and 10 points, while James Butler grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds.
The Falcons had struggles of their own from the floor early in the second half, but finished the game at 46 percent. The Falcons interior defense blocked seven shots and the team had 50 of its 81 points in the paint. Turner had a double-double with 11 rebounds to go along with his 29 points. Demajeo Wiggins finished with 16 points and 12 caroms.
Drexel will head back to Philadelphia tonight. The Dragons will be home for the next three weeks as they begin a four game home stand. The first game of that stretch will be on Wednesday night when NJIT visits the DAC. NJIT is off to a good start, winning six of its seven games thus far.
