UConn Downs Drexel in Hartford, 97-65

HARTFORD, Conn. – Troy Harper scored 20 points but it wasn't enough as UConn downed the Dragons (6-6) at the XL Center, 97-65. UConn improved to 9-3 with the victory.
The Huskies used a 14-1 run to erase an early Drexel lead and did not trail again. UConn shot 55 percent in the first half and went into the locker room with a 42-28 lead. Tarin Smith scored 13 points in the first half to lead the Huskies. The Dragons committed nine turnovers in the first 20 minutes and managed to sink just one of their nine three-point attempts.
UConn came out firing in the second half and extended the lead early with a barrage of three-pointers. The Huskies shot 65 percent from deep in the second stanza and went 8-for-11 from behind the arc.
Harper had 12 of his team-high points in the first half. The senior finished the night 6-for-10 from the field and 7-for-8 from the line. Camren Wynter scored 12 points before fouling out. Jalen Adams and Tarin Smith each scored 20 points to lead the Huskies. Christian Vital added 17.
The Dragons return home for their final game before the holiday break this Saturday. Drexel will host Temple at the Palestra at 1 p.m.
