Men’s Basketball Suffers Conference Loss to William & Mary

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's basketball team (7-10, 1-3 CAA) suffered a conference loss at the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Saturday night to the William & Mary Tribe (7-9, 3-1 CAA) by a final of 84-66.
William & Mary led from wire-to-wire in the CAA affair. Drexel managed to get within five points, 54-49, with 8:27 remaining in the contest before the Tribe pulled away for the road win.
Senior Troy Harper led the Dragons with 17 points on the day as he went 6-of-12 from the floor with two threes. The 6 foot, 1 inch guard also converted two powerful dunks in the first half which helped spark a late run into halftime.
With 7:57 to play in the first, Harper went over a Tribe defender to get the Dragons back to a single-digit deficit. From there, Drexel got within five with 25 seconds left in the half before William and Mary's Nathan Knight drained a three at the buzzer as the Dragons trailed by eight at the break, 37-29. Knight finished with game highs of 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Drexel's shooting woes continued in the second half, though the squad was able to stay in the game out of the intermission. Down by just five points with almost eight and a half minutes to play, William and Mary outscored Drexel by 13 in the final minutes as W&M won, 84-66.
PERFORMANCES
Harper poured in 17 points as he has finished as Drexel's leading scorer for the sixth-straight game.
Junior Alihan Demir notched 10 points, three boards, three assists, two blocks and a steal in the loss.
Graduate student Trevor John was the third Dragon in double figures with 10 points.
Freshman Camren Wynter finished with nine points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals while limiting his turnovers to just two.
Sophomore Jarvis Doles and freshman Coletrane Washington scored seven and six points off the bench, respectively, while sophomore Tadas Kararinas had a basket and two boards in his eight minutes as a reserve.
