Women’s Rowing Picks Up Two Grand Final Wins at 1969 Cup

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - The Drexel University women's rowing team closed out the fall season with two victories at the 1969 Cup on Mercer Lake in New Jersey on Saturday.

All three Drexel boats, the varsity eight, second varsity eight and freshman eight, each won their respective heats in the morning to grab spots in the afternoon grand finals.

The varsity eight, racing in the Alleva XVII shell, won its grand final with a time of 7:04.74, outpacing second place Bucknell (7:10.38) and third place UConn (7:15.57).

The freshman eight, in the Buckley II shell, also picked up another victory with a time of 7:31.92 in front of Bucknell (7:39.06) and Delaware (8:02.33).

The second varsity eight placed third in its grand final behind Bucknell (7:10.95) and UConn (7:15.95). The Dragons, in the Cara Fry shell, came in at 7:16.76.
