Women’s Basketball Wins Nonconference Finale Over Maine on Monday, 70-57

Senior Bailey Greenberg nets career high 32 points
PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel University women's basketball team (7-5) closed out nonconference play with a 70-57 home win over the University of Maine Black Bears (4-10) on Monday night from the Daskalakis Athletic Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
HIGHLIGHTS
* Senior Bailey Greenberg established a new career high with 32 points. It came as her third 30-point game this season as she finished 13-of-20 from the floor including 2-of-3 from deep and 4-of-5 from the line on Monday.
* Greenberg moved into 10th place on Drexel's all-time scoring list with her eighth point of the night, which came with 3:26 left in the first quarter.
* Trailing midway through the second quarter, Drexel took a three-point lead at halftime and then used a 13-2 third-quarter run to stretch its lead to double figures.
* The Black Bears, playing with just seven players, chipped back and got the deficit down to four in the fourth quarter before Greenberg and the Dragons pushed it back up to double digits for the home win.
* The Dragons dominated the paint, scoring a season-best 48 points inside the key.
* Senior Aubree Brown dished out a game-high seven assists.
* Senior Ana Ferariu grabbed a season-high and team-best seven rebounds in the win.
* Greenberg (32) was the only Dragon to finish in double digits while junior Hannah Nihill (8), sophomore Kate Connolly (7) and sophomore Keishana Washington (6) all contributed points with at least three field goals each.
* In total, nine Dragons scored points on the night and 13 saw action on the floor.
GAMEPLAY
Q1 /
The first quarter went quickly and nearly without a whistle as no fouls were called on either team. Greenberg scored the first six points for Drexel and added her fourth bucket of the night to break her into the top-10 of Drexel's all-time scoring list. Drexel and Maine only combined for one shot over the final 2:31 as the score was tied 14-14 after 10 minutes of action.

Maine was able to build a slight lead in the second quarter to go up by four with 1:47 left in the frame. But Drexel ended the half on a 7-0 run to take a 32-29 lead into the locker room. The Dragons shot 50.5% (15-of-30) from the floor in the first half and held the Black Bears to 34.4% (10-of-29) shooting. Greenberg led all scorers with 15 at the break while Maine's Anne Simon had 12 to lead the Black Bears.

Drexel used two runs of 7-0 and 6-0 in the early goings of the second half to take a 45-33 advantage. With a 12-point lead and 5:41 remaining, the Dragons maintained the double-digit figure as the score was 52-41 heading into the fourth, even as Maine hit a buzzer beating jumper. Greenberg added nine points in the quarter to bring her to 24 on the night.

An 8-1 run to start the fourth quarter for Maine brought the Black Bears within four points, 53-49. But the Dragons fought back with an 8-0 stretch, their largest run of the game, to make it 61-49. From there, Drexel held on for the 70-57 win as Greenberg reached her 32-point career high with eight points in the fourth quarter.
