Chris Donovan Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men’s Soccer Team

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel sophomore Chris Donovan was named to the 2019 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Soccer Team. A total of 11 student-athletes were selected to the all-area team which is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Donovan, a 2019 All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team selection, started in all 17 matches for the Dragons this season, playing a total of 1,452 minutes. He played every minute in nine games and led the team with seven goals and 16 points. At the conference level, he was the fourth-leading scorer and ranked fourth in total points at the end of the regular season.
The Paoli, Pennsylvania native netted the game-winning goal three times this past season with two winning tallies coming against CAA competition. His marker in the 76th minute gave the Dragons a 2-1 win over William & Mary on Sept. 21, and he broke a 1-1 deadlock in the 78th minute at Elon on Oct. 5.
