Dr. Trojian Elected to Board of Trustees for American College of Sports Medicine

INDIANAPOLIS – Dr. Thomas Trojian, chief medical officer for Drexel Athletics, has been elected to the board of trustees for the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). The position comes as a three-year appointment. Dr. Trojian has been a fellow of the ACSM and section editor of the ACSM journal Current Sports Medicine Reports for over a decade.
Dr. Trojian will begin his duties on the ACSM board of trustees following the ACSM's 66th Annual Meeting, taking place from May 28 to June 1 in Orlando, Fla.
ACSM President-Elect Dr. Bill Krause said of the new officers, "This year we had an exemplary panel of candidates for the Board of Trustees — all dedicated and very active in serving the various ACSM missions. The college is grateful for all the work the candidates have done and will continue to do to make us the premier member organization devoted to furthering the missions of exercise science and sports medicine."
At Drexel University, Dr. Trojian is a Professor in the Department of Family, Community and Preventive Medicine, serving as Fellowship Director for the Sports Medicine Program, Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine and Chief Medical Officer for Drexel Athletics. He joined in Drexel in 2014.
Dr. Trojian has served on the national organizations of American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and Osteoarthritis Action Alliance. He has championed the ACSM initiative 'Exercise is Medicine' with invited lectures to Drexel Internal Medicine and Delaware Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Trojian is an accomplished ultrasonographer, receiving certified status. He has a Department of Defense grant under the auspices of Margaret Finley in physical therapy to study the effects of manual wheelchair use on rotator cuffs. He teaches ultrasound locally, nationally and internationally.
