Philadelphia- Drexel Women's Soccer Coach Ray Goon has announced the addition of Matt Perrella to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2019 season. Perrella will serve as the goalkeeper coach and will assist with all aspects of the program.
Perrella currently plays professionally a member of the Harrisburg Heat of the Major Arena Soccer League. Since 2015, Perrella has made appearances for a number of clubs, including the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Bethlehem Steel, both of the United Soccer League. He also had previous trials in clubs in both Europe and Asia, such as Newcastle United in England, Udinese in Italy and Pattaya in Thailand.
Perrella also brings coaching experience to the Dragons' bench. He most recently served as an assistant coach with Matabeleland F.A. of the Confederation of Independent Football Associations. He was also the head coach of the Trenton Rebels. That team went 12-1-1 and lost in the national semifinals to the Seattle Sounders U-23.
Perrella was a four-year starter in goal and served as captain for three years while playing at nearby Rider University. He graduated in 2013 and earned his MBA from Durham University.
