PHILADELPHIA - The Colonial Athletic Association has canceled all competitions for the remainder of the winter and spring sport seasons.
Following extensive discussions with the conference's institutional administrators, in light of new developments and in an attempt to mitigate the further spread of the coronavirus, the Colonial Athletic Association has decided to cancel all conference and non-conference competitions for the remainder of the winter and spring sports seasons.
The CAA has also indefinitely suspended all in-person, on- and off-campus recruiting.
"This has been a very difficult decision to make, but one that I agree with," said Drexel's Director of Athletics Dr. Eric Zillmer. "We, as Dragons, are heartbroken about not competing, but canceling our winter and spring sports seasons and championships is in the best interest of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators and fans. This decision was made in consultation with the CAA Athletic Directors. I am thankful to my colleagues, as well as my department leadership, coaches, and student-athletes, who we are in regular contact with during this difficult time in our history," Zillmer added.
The CAA will continue to monitor what is a very complex and fluid situation, and will communicate any additional and pertinent information at a later date.
