Men's Tennis Drops First CAA Match, 6-1 at Delaware

NEWARK, Del. – The Drexel men's tennis team lost to Delaware on Sunday, 6-1. The Dragons fell to 7-4 and 0-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Delaware improved its record to 14-1 and 3-0 in the CAA.

Delaware started the match by sweeping all three of the doubles matches. Drexel came close to taking the third-seeded match featuring Juan Manuel Sanchez and Djordje Janackovic. The duo took the match into the tiebreaker but lost 7-6 (5). The top-seeded flight featuring Sanil Jagtiani and Xandy Hammitt went unfinished.

In singles play, the Dragons won the sixth-seeded match. Sanchez defeated his opponent by a score of 6-1, 6-1. Alvaro Cruz Chamorro and Gustav Wogen both took their opponents into the third set. Chamorro's match ended with set scores of 6-1, 4-6 and 10-8. Wogen's fifth-seeded match ended 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.

The Dragons will host Bryant in a match on March 14 at the Hecht and Hamlin Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
