Ziouti Wins Her 100th Match, Women's Tennis Loses Close One to Fordham

WEST DEPTFORD, N.J.- Salma Ziouti won her 100th career match as the Drexel women's tennis team lost to Fordham, 4-3, on Saturday. With the loss, Drexel dropped to 8-4 while Fordham improved to 4-7.
The Dragons jumped out to an early lead by clinching the doubles point. In the first-seeded match, Ghita Benhadi and Cristina Corte González won, 6-1. After the Dragons dropped the second-seeded flight, the pair of Mya Fuentes and Tara Veluvolu won the No. 3 flight, 6-2.
In singles play, the Rams took the No. 4 and No. 5 matches and the lead, 2-1. Veluvolu tied the match back up with a victory in the third-seeded flight, 6-3, 6-1. In the No. 1 flight, Salma Ziouti was victorious for the 100th time in her career. She joins a list of eight other names, including her teammate Benhadi who joined that list last month. The score of Ziouti's match was 6-0, 1-6, 6-2. The Rams took the second and sixth-seeded flights to win the match.

The Dragons will travel to Villanova to take on the Wildcats in a match on Saturday, March 14. The first match will get started at 3 p.m.
