Men's Basketball Announces End of Year Award Winners

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's basketball program announced its annual award winners today. The athletics department recognized the student-athletes who excelled both on and off the court during the 2019-20 season.
Sophomore Cam Wynter was a repeat winner as the team's Most Valuable Player. Drexel's starter at the point the last two seasons averaged 15.7 points per game. Wynter became a more consistent long-range shooter as a sophomore. He shot 36 percent and led the team with 44 three-pointers. Wynter was second in the Colonial Athletic Association in assists per game and fifth in steals per game. His 168 assists on the season also earned him the team's Assist Award. The Hempstead, N.Y., native now has 342 career assists, which is 11th all-time at Drexel.
For the second straight season, junior James Butler won the "Sweep" Award. The award, named after former Drexel standout Bob Stephens, is given to the team's top rebounder. Butler grabbed 387 rebounds, the third-highest total in Drexel history behind only the great Malik Rose. The junior finished fifth in the nation with 11.7 rebounds per game and was also fifth in the country with 20 double-doubles.
Senior Sam Green was given the Donald Shank Spirit & Dedication Award. Green recovered from a season-ending injury in 2018 and worked his way into the starting line-up in his final season. Green averaged 5.2 points per game and shot 38 percent from deep. He played in all but one game this year after appearing in just 27 in his first three seasons at Drexel.
Matey Juric was a repeat winner for both the Dragon "D" Award and the Academic Award. Juric picked up 41 steals and averaged more than 24 minutes a game. In the classroom, Juric holds a 3.97 grade-point average, tops on the team. The sophomore from Toronto, Ont., is a biological science major.
The Samuel D. Cozen Award for the most improved player was given to Coletrane Washington. Washington appeared in just 24 games as a freshman but became a key contributor as a sophomore. Washington tied for the CAA lead by shooting .439 from behind the arc. He chipped in with 5.1 points per game.
