Tyma Claims Third Polish National Championship

PHILADELPHIA – Top-seeded Karina Tyma cruised to victory at the PSA Individual Polish Championships, which ran Sept. 10-12 at the Hasta La Vista Sports Center in Wroclaw, Poland. Drexel's first female CSA First Team All-American dropped just one game in five matches to win her third Polish national championship.
After an opening bye, Tyma notched three-straight sweeps to reach the semifinals, where she matched up with Natalia Ryfa. Tyma took the first two games, 11-4 and 11-5, before her only hiccup of the tournament, an 11-8 loss in the third. The sophomore quickly rebounded with an 11-6 victory in the ensuing game to reach the finals.
Second-seeded Magda Kaminska posed little challenge to Tyma, who took the final by a score of 11-7, 11-4, 11-5.
