PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Squash Head Coach John White announced today the signing of five individuals to National Letters of Intent ahead of the 2021-22 season. The signing class hails from four different countries and features a pair of national champions.
"I am very excited for our 2021 recruits," White said. "It's a class that will make both teams stronger throughout the full roster, and, best of all, give both teams a shot at the top-four at the national championships."
Jack Bloomfield | Cheltenham, England | Wycliffe College
Bloomfield is set to become the first English player in men's program history. He captained the squash team at Wycliffe College and won national schools in all age groups while representing Wycliffe. The youngest men's Gloucestershire County champion, Bloomfield is the top-ranked player in his region and county.
"Jack is our first English recruit," White said. "He is a strong, passionate player who will come to fight and give 100 percent every time he steps on the court."
Fritiof Jacobsson | Gothenburg, Sweden | Göteborgs Högre Samskola
Jacobsson will join compatriot Filip Krueger as the second Swede on the men's squash roster. He intends to major in economics.
"Another strong, passionate player coming out of Sweden," White said. "His level of play will see him feature in the middle of the lineup. His desire to get to the next level will certainly put pressure on the top half of the team, which will make for some very exciting practices."
Haris Qasim | Lahore, Pakistan | Government College University
Qasim will be the first men's squash player to call Pakistan home. Qasim is a Pakistani national champion at both the U17 and U19 levels. He won an Asian Junior Squash Championship as an individual in 2018 before winning the team title the following year.
"We are excited to have our first recruit from Pakistan," White said. "Haris will be a great asset and a strong top-three player for the program. I'm looking forward to seeing him challenge for the top spot on the team."
Lydia Robinson | Beverley, England | Pocklington School
Robinson is a multi-sport athlete and two-time English National Champion in squash, winning the title as an under-13 and an under-15. Currently fifth in the U19 English ratings, she has been top of each previous age group. Robinson has represented her home country on the international stage and has been a member of the England Development Squad, a select group of elite junior squash players, since she was 13.
"Lydia is another strong and passionate player coming out of the U.K. who will be a great fit for the team and a good strength for the middle of the roster," White said.
Amirah Rusydina Binti Rosli | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia | Suffield Academy (Conn.)
Rosli is currently the third-ranked Asian junior player. She has won team gold at the 2016 Malaysian Games and the 2018 ASEAN School Games. As an individual, Rosli has silver medals from the 2019 Hong Kong Junior Squash Open and the 202 National Junior Squash Championship.
"Dina will be a strong top-five player for us," White said. "She is a great competitor, has a lovely attitude for the game and will be a good fit for the team."
