Dragons Place Third at Patriot Invitational, Nasedkina Breaks Five Records

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Drexel women's swimming and diving team wrapped up its appearance at the 2021 Patriot Invitational on Saturday, placing third and setting multiple program records.
Maddie Riley started the night with a silver in the 1650 free by clocking in with a time of 16:59.29. Olivia Shaffer competed in the event as well after posting a 17:21.46 in the preliminaries. Fede Nocera won bronze in the 200 back after touching the wall in 2:00.18.
Lera Nasedkina continued her record-breaking streak in the third day of the meet. The senior set the program record in the preliminaries by swimming a 50.02 in the100 free. In the evening's finals, Nasedkina broke her own record and touched the wall in 49.61. That time earned Nasedkina a gold medal, her fourth of the meet. Chelsea Gravereaux won bronze in the 100 free with a time of 50.50. Victoria Palochik competed in the A final after posting a 51.70 in the preliminaries.
Megan Sicinski took silver in the 200 breast with a time of 2:16.09 after posting a 2:17.73 in the morning trials. In the 400 free relay, Nasedkina, Paige Powell, Palochik and Gravereaux touched the wall in 3:23.28 to earn silver and set another school record. With the school record, Nasedkina reached five total record-breaking performances.
The Dragons return to the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Dec. 4 to host Lehigh in their first home meet since Feb. 14, 2019. The event is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
