RICHMOND, Va. – The defending CAA women's basketball champions, Drexel University has been selected as the host of the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Basketball Championship presented by Primis by a vote of the conference's athletics directors.
It will be the second time that the conference has conducted its showcase women's basketball event at the Daskalakis Athletic Center in Philadelphia, Pa. The facility also played host to the championship in 2018.
The Dragons won the CAA tournament last year, defeating Delaware in the 2021 title game to earn its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2009. DU has had consistent women's basketball success for more than a decade, reaching postseason play in all but one season since 2009.
The CAA is considered one of the top mid-major women's basketball conferences in the nation. Five different schools have captured the conference championship since 2013.
