PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Women's Tennis Head Coach Anne Marie Devlin and Director of Tennis Mehdi Rhazali announced today the signing of two players ahead of the upcoming 2021-22 season.
"I am excited to see the growth of our program and the depth of our team as we continue to build upon our strong foundation," Rhazali said. "Coach Anne Marie is building something special, and it is great to see."
Lorie Lemongo | Yaounde, Cameroon | EdOptions Academy
Lorie Lemongo comes to Drexel as a top 150 ITF in 2021. In 2020, Lemongo won the African Championship U-18 in doubles along with being ranked in the top 200 junior.
"I am excited to see a player like Lorie, a top 150 ITF in the world, join the Dragons," Rhazali said. "Lorie has a lot of match experience that will benefit the program right away."
"We are really excited to have Lorie join us," Devlin said. "She is a very talented player who will make an immediate impact and add strength to the Dragons this fall."
Renata Lombera | Mexico City, Mexico | Utah State University
Renata Lombera is a transfer from Utah State University. In the 2021 season, Lombera finished with a 7-8 singles record and a 6-12 doubles record. In her freshman campaign, she finished with a 8-8 singles mark and was 11-9 in doubles play. Before her time at Utah State, she was ranked as high as second in Mexico.
"Renata comes to us as a transfer with a lot of experience," Rhazali said. "She is an all-court player with solid variety at both singles and doubles."
"I am really excited to have Renata joining the dragons this fall," Devlin said. "She brings great experience in college tennis to us, as well as an incredible attitude and drive that is so important to us and will help us to continue to strengthen the program in the next couple years."
