KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior forward Chris Donovan has been named to the preseason watch list for the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy, presented annually to the nation's top soccer player.
Donovan was named to the list after finishing last season seventh nationally in goals per game (0.80), 11th in assists (.60) and fifth in points (2.20) for the Dragons' offense that was 11th in scoring. The Paoli, Pa. native also was picked as the most valuable player and first team All-Conference for the CAA in the preseason coaches poll.
Donovan joins 43 other Division I athletes from schools across the nation on the watch list. The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the nation's National Player of the Year. Division I coaches who are members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services program vote for the award.
Fifteen players are named Hermann Trophy semifinalists on November 30 following United Soccer Coaches Division I All-America voting after the regular season. A final round of voting names three finalists on December 15. The 2021 winner is announced on January 7, 2022, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.
