PHILADELPHIA – Chris Donovan of men's soccer and Kailey Horton of women's soccer have been named the Drexel Athletes of the Week for the period of Monday, September 6 to Sunday, September 12.
Donovan, who was named the Colonial Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week, had a career week. The senior scored two goals and tallied an assist as the Dragons went 2-0-0. On Tuesday, September 7, Donovan netted his second goal of the season and added an assist in Drexel's 5-1 victory over Saint Peter's. On Saturday, September 11, the Paoli native scored an insurance goal in the Dragons' win over UNCW to end the Seahawks' perfect season and give Drexel its first conference win of the season.
Horton netted her first goal of the season on Sunday in Drexel's 3-1 win against UMass Lowell. She took a feed in the top left corner of the box, measured her steps and sent the ball lower right to tally the eventual game-winner.
