Jesudason Advances to Finals at Saint Joseph's Fall Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – Day two of the Saint Joseph's Fall Invitational has come to an end for the Drexel men's tennis team. Freshman Alan Jesudason punched his ticket to the finals and guaranteed himself a medal at the invitational. It will be the first medal of his young collegiate career.
Jesudason, representing the Dragons in flight number two, won two matches on Saturday. The freshman's second-round matchup ended in two sets. Competing against a Delaware Blue Hen player, the Berwyn, Pa. native won, 6-2, 7-5. Jesudason competed against a Villanova opponent in the semifinals match and was victorious in another two-set match, 6-3, 6-2. Jesudason will compete for a gold medal on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
After dropping his first-round match, Matvey Radionov received a default win in the first round of the consolation bracket. Radionov will compete on Sunday for a spot in the third-place match.
Gustav Wogen, competing in flight number three, also earned a win in the consolation bracket. The senior defeated his opponent in the first round, 8-2, and will compete on Sunday for a spot in the third-place match.
In Doubles play, the Dragons worked to send three separate duos to the next round. In flight number one, Xandy Hammitt and Sanil Jagtiani received a default and advanced to the semifinals. That match will be played on Sunday. Joining them in a semifinals match is the unit of Djordje Janackovic and Juan Manuel Sanchez, who defeated their opponents, 6-3, in the second flight. The third pair to advance to the next round was Radionov and Wogen. The two Dragons also earned a spot in the semifinals match after a default in the second round.
The final day of the Saint Joseph's Fall Invitational starts on Sunday, September 26, at 9 a.m.
