Men's Rowing Wins Collegiate Eight Championship At Head of the Charles

BOSTON – The Drexel men's rowing team made it a weekend to remember for the Dragons as DU won the men's collegiate eights at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday afternoon.
It is Drexel's second ever victory for the varsity 8+ at the Head of the Charles, one of the biggest and most prestigious regattas of the fall season. DU also won the event in 2013.
Rowing in Lois Krall III the team of Sam DeSilva (coxswain), Josh Diggons (stroke), Andrew Manns, Michael Pazderski, Damian Lis, Jake Miller, James Schmidt, John Karen and Andrei Malis (bow) completed the course in 14:20.496.
The Dragons trailed by .75 seconds at the first marker, but pulled ahead by more than three seconds at the midway point. Drexel did not trail the remainder of the race, holding off a late challenge by Williams.
In the collegiate fours, Drexel placed 11th with a time of 16:50.011.
The Dragons return to Philadelphia to compete in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on October 29-30.
