Women's Rowing Strikes Gold For Second Week in a Row

PHILADELPHIA - For a second consecutive weekend, the Drexel women's rowing team found itself on top, claiming gold in both of its races at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday afternoon.

Competing in the Championship Eights and rowing in Alleva XVII, the Dragons Varsity 8+ of Natalie Cleri (coxswain), Julianna Rogers (stroke), Kayla Driscoll, Hayley McKeever, Giavanna Hunt, Mollie Knoff, Rita Keefer, Taylor Powell and Kayla Driscoll (bow) bested the competition with a time of 12:36.514.

In the Club Championship Eights, all three of Drexel's 2V8+ teams finished in the top half of the field of 46 boats. Winning the event was the "A" boat of Chloe Minicucci (coxswain), Sophia Lamb (stroke), Valentina Frusone, Lexie Hain, Rachel Civan, Rachel Willey, Morgan Van Dexter, Anna Kretzer and Katie Ernst (bow). Also rowing in Alleva XVII, the team crossed the finish line in 13:06.112, edging CAA foe UConn by just three tenths of a second. The "B" boat in Cara Fry placed fifth with a time of 13:29.000 and the "C" boat in Marlene Buckley II clocked in at 13:53.676, pacing 16th

The Dragons close the fall season at the Princeton Chase on November 6.
