HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Dragons raced out to an 8-3 lead on the strength of a 4-for-5 start from the floor. The Big Green countered with an 11-0 run that was snapped by a triple from Washington at the 4:16 mark of the opening quarter. That basket ignited a 7-0 run to end the quarter as Drexel took a 15-14 lead at the end of 10 minutes.
- Dartmouth got the first points of the second, but DU responded in a big way with a 12-0 run, going up 27-17 just more than four minutes into the stanza. The pace slowed after the media timeout, but spurred by six in a row from Washington to end the half, the last two coming on an end-to-end driving layup to beat the buzzer, Drexel went into the locker room on top 35-24.
- Drexel turned on the afterburners in the third, shooting 7-for-10 from the floor with Washington scoring 13 in the quarter. The Dragons led by 15 at the end of the frame. The fourth quarter was played at a mostly even pace to create the final score.
