Men's Tennis Defeats Lehigh, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's tennis team defeated the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 4-3, on Saturday at the Drexel Tennis Bubble. With the win, Drexel improved its overall record to 5-1.
After Lehigh took the top-seeded match, Drexel won the second-seeded and third-seeded doubles matches to clinch the point for the Dragons. Sanil Jagtiani and Matvey Radionov paired up and defeated their opponents 6-4. Juan Manuel Sanchez and Djordje Janackovic downed their opponents, 6-3.
In singles play, Drexel dropped the third, fifth and sixth-seeded matches but won the top, second and fourth-seeded matches to win the dual against the Mountain Hawks. Jagtiani picked up the Dragons' first win in the No. 2 match, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4. Following Jagtiani was Alex De Sousa, who had to battle to capture a victory. The sophomore won the first set, 6-2, and dropped the second set, 6-3. The Canterbury, UK native dramatically defeated his opponent in the third and final set, with a 7-5 score.
Clinching the dual, in the fourth-seeded match, was Janackovic. The junior downed his opponent quickly in two sets, 6-1, 6-1.
The Dragons return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 23, when they travel to Penn. First serve at the Hecht and Hamlin Tennis Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.
