PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel University men's rowing team claimed the Bergen Cup on Saturday morning, winning five of its six races on the Schuylkill River.

The Varsity 8+ led the way as Sam DeSilva (coxswain), Josh Diggons (stroke), Matt Reilly, Dimitrije Ibrocic, Damian Lis, Michael Pazderski, Andrew Manns, John Karen, and Roman Smigiel (bow) rowed Lois Krall III to a win of more than four seconds against Temple with a time of 5:41.6.

In the Second Varsity 8+, competing in Lois Krall II, Billy Ernst (coxswain), John Little (stroke), CJ Rooney, James Schmidt, Herbert De Cokere, Nemanja Sajatovic, Sam Valigorsky, Jake Miller, and Kosta Petkovic (bow) also took a four-plus second win against the Owls, finishing in 5:48.7 on the 2,000 meter course on flat water.

In Dan Lyons, the V4+ crew of Matt Sherman (coxswain) Thomas Gola (stroke), Joe Glenn, Malcolm Grauley, and Dearon Tufankjian (bow) won, beating La Salle by five seconds, recording a time of 6:51.3. The Dragons also won the 3V8+ with a 5:54.8 clocking and the 2V4+ in a time of 6:51.9.

Next for Drexel is the historic Dad Vail Regatta on May 13-14.
