RICHMOND, Va. - Belle McHugh of the Drexel University women's lacrosse team has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending May 1, 2022. It is the second time this season she is receiving the honor.
McHugh picked up nine ground balls and had seven caused turnovers in two games for the Dragons this past week. She had arguably the best individual game of her career on Tuesday at Dartmouth, recording a personal best five caused turnovers, tying a career-high with five ground balls, also claiming a draw control as Drexel matched a season-low with six goals allowed. Against James Madison on Saturday, she scooped four more ground balls and caused two turnovers.
The Dragons begin their quest for back-to-back trips to the NCAA Championship with a CAA Tournament semifinal against third-seeded Hofstra on Friday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m.
