PHILADELPHIA – Drexel director of tennis Mehdi Rhazali announced the elevation of Eric Biscoveanu from assistant men's tennis coach to head women's tennis coach on Wednesday afternoon. Biscoveanu becomes women's tennis' seventh head coach.
"Eric was with us last year as an assistant coach," Rhazali said. "He comes from a strong playing background and transitioned smoothly to being a coach. He understands student-athlete development and brings with him a drive to help the athletes succeed and reach their highest potential."
Biscoveanu completed the 2022 spring season as an assistant under Rhazali's men's team. The Newtown, Pa. native has also worked at the Germantown Cricket Club teaching tennis fundamentals and coordinating drills for the Junior Tennis Camp. Biscoveanu also organized and taught adult clinics and private lessons.
"I'm so excited and honored to be the next coach for the Women's Tennis team at Drexel University," Biscoveanu said. "My goals as a new coach are to motivate and support the women to be successful student-athletes. With positive experiences from being a student-athlete, the women will have a great step towards a successful future!"
Before his time at Germantown Cricket Club, Biscoveanu worked as a tennis coach at the Cherry Hill Health and Racquet Club, organizing drills for nationally ranked junior tennis players. Biscoveanu was a five-year varsity member of the Temple tennis team and was named to the Student-Athlete Honor Roll every year. He was also named ITA Scholar-Athlete in the 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2020-21 seasons. Biscoveanu graduated from Temple in December, 2021 with a master's in secondary education.
