Women’s Tennis Opens Season at Villanova Invitational

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Drexel women's tennis team opened its 2022-23 athletic season at the Villanova Invitational on Friday evening. The Dragons competed against the Wildcats and won two doubles matches and five of six singles matches.

Isabel Cabrerizo and Aida Garcia Mendez defeated their opponents 7-6 (4) while Renata Lombera and Cristina Corte Gonzalez won, 6-1.

In singles play, Lorie Lemongo started her sophomore season in winning fashion, defeating her opponent in two sets, 6-1, 6-2. Cabrerizo took her match into the third set and won, 3-6, 7-5, 12-10. Renata Lombera took down her Wildcat opponent also in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. Lastly, Mya Fuentes won her match 6-2, 6-4.

The Dragons return to Villanova University on Saturday for day two of the three-day invitational.
