CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 7 Drexel University men's squash team continued its strong start to the new year with an 8-1 win against No. 12 Rochester on Saturday afternoon.
Getting the day started was Noel Heaton at number seven who claimed an 11-8, 11-3, 11-3 victory against Quinlan Jeudy. Next, José López outlasted Omar Zakaria 9-11, 11-4, 11-2, 8-11, 11-7 n the fourth position. Gautam Nagpal won 11-4, 11-8, 11-3 at number nine and Nico Serna won in the third spot, 12-10, 11-3, 11-9 to put the Dragons a point away from victory.
The final point needed to win came from Filip Krueger at number six, who downed Emilio Carrillo 11-9, 11-9, 11-7 to clinch the match. Yuri Pelbart, Shaan Dalal and Matias Knudsen also recorded victories.
The Dragons return to action tomorrow with a showdown against No. 5 Virginia in a Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference contest. Opening serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
