Dragons Win Seventh Straight Beating Stony Brook

PHILADELPHIA – Keishana Washington moved into second place on the Drexel all-time scoring list and the Dragons used a dominant second quarter as DU downed the Stony Brook Seawolves 81-64 on Sunday afternoon.

- Washington led all scorers with 27 in the game. She now has 1,918 in her career. It was her 49th consecutive game in double figures and her 12th this season with 20 or more.
- Tori Hyduke recorded a personal best in a Drexel uniform with 13 points, connecting on 5-of-6 shots from the floor.
- Maura Hendrixson continued to distribute the ball, coming up with 10 assists in the game, her third straight with double-digit dimes.
- Grace O'Neill contributed 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
- Hetta Saatman, Kylie Lavelle and Hendrixson each scored eight.
- As a team, DU recorded its third straight game with 20+ assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Dragons started the game on fire, hitting eight of their first 10 shots from the floor, building an 18-9 lead in less than six minutes. The Seawolves battled back, hitting a pair of three-pointers, sparking an 11-2 run to tie the game at 20-20 after 10 minutes.
- Drexel got off to a good start again in the second, going up 35-24 at the media timeout. Washington's milestone moment came with 6:04 in the quarter as she connected on a trey from the left wing, giving DU a seven point lead at the time. The Dragons continued to pour it on during the frame, outscoring Stony Brook 27-8 to take a 47-28 lead at the half.
- The third quarter was an extension of the second as Drexel outscored the Seawolves 19-10. Seven different players scored in the period for DU, led by five for Hyduke as the Dragons pushed the lead to as much as 30.
- Stony Brook made a furious comeback attempt in the fourth, scoring 22 of the first 30 points, slicing the lead to 74-60 with three minutes remaining, but back-to-back baskets by Chloe Hodges and O'Neill helped the Dragons to secure the win.
