Okros and Oden Lead Dragons Past Lafayette, 69-48

EASTON, Pa. – Mate Okros and Lamar Oden, Jr. each scored nine points in the second half as Drexel defeated Lafayette, 69-48, at the Kirby Sports Center. The Dragons led by just two at the break, but shot 58 percent in the second half and pulled away from the Leopards.
Drexel went on an early 10-2 second half run to break a 29-29 tie. The Leopards were unable to get back in the game as Drexel's offense started to click. The Dragons made five of their nine 3-pointers in the final 20 minutes. Okros had his best game of the young season. The graduate student poured in a game-high 14 points and was 4-for-5 from deep.
Oden, Jr. added 11 points, including five early in the second half to get the Dragons going. The senior also grabbed seven rebounds. Garfield Turner continued to play well up front. Turner was 3-for-3 from the floor and finished the night with nine points and seven rebounds. Kobe MaGee, playing in front of his family and friends from Allentown, added eight points and a team-high three assists in 18 minutes of play.
Justin Vander Baan led Lafayette (1-7) with 13 points, 10 of those coming in the first half. The Leopards controlled the pace in the opening half and took a 23-31 lead into the locker room.
Drexel's defense held the Leopards to just 30 percent shooting in the game. The Leopards made just 26 percent from deep. For the second straight game the Dragons had a huge advantage on the glass. Drexel outrebounded Lafayette, 46-31, and had four players grab at least five boards.
Big 5 Classic is Set: Drexel will match up with #18 Villanova in the 2:00 p.m. time slot of the Big Five Classic on Saturday, December 2nd at Wells Fargo Center.
