Dragons to Face Winner of Hampton and Monmouth in CAA Opening Round

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's basketball team will begin its quest for a Colonial Athletic Association Championship against either Hampton or Monmouth in the opening round of the upcoming tournament in Washington, D.C. The Dragons first game will be next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the The Entertainment & Sports Arena. Drexel finished the regular season with a 10-8 conference record and will be the fifth-seed in the 13-team field. The winner gets an automatic bid the NCAA Championships.
Hampton will be the 12-seed while Monmouth will be the 13-seed in Washington. Both schools finished the regular season with a 5-13 conference mark and will be making their debut in the CAA Championships. Drexel split their meetings with both of the schools. The Dragons defeated Monmouth and Hampton in the Daskalakis Athletic Center, while dropping road games to both the Hawks and the Pirates. Hampton and Monmouth will face each other on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.
There will be an alumni pregame reception before Drexel's first game. Rally with fellow alumni, fans and friends before the Dragons' Opening Round game on March 4 at Walter's Sports Bar (10 N St SE, Washington, DC 20003) in the D.C. Navy Yard. To register click here.
