Bushma Named Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Co-Performer of the Year

PHILADELPHIA – Alina Bushma of the Drexel women's squash team has been named the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's At Large Co-Performer of the Year as announced on Wednesday.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area, a student-athlete must be in their second year or higher at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Bushma was named First Team All-America along with earning a spot on the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference First Team for the second straight year during her senior campaign. The Kyiv, Ukraine native defeated each of the top players from the No. 1 and No. 2 team in the nation during while posting a 13-5 overall record. She went 12-4 in team competition, all at the No. 1 position on the ladder. Bushma helped Drexel finish fifth at the Howe Cup and was one of three finalists for the College Squash Association Skillman Award as the Sportswoman of the Year.
In the classroom, Bushma is a computing and security technology major with a 3.99 GPA. She was also named Academic All-Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference for second consecutive year.
