
Dragons Finish Second at CAA Rowing Championships

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – On the strength of four silver medal finishes, the Drexel University women's rowing team finished second at the CAA Championships on Friday, May 12 at Fish Creek Marina in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. DU totaled 36 points at the event.
For their efforts during the championships and throughout the season, Natalie Cleri, Kirby Droogan and Hayley McKeever were named All-Conference.
The V8+, rowing in Jim & Toni Downey and comprised of Cleri (coxswain), Taylor Powell (stroke), Mollie Knoff, Julianna Rogers, McKeever, Droogan, Rita Keefer, Giavanna Hunt and Morgan Van Dexter (bow) turned in a second place time of 7:11.588 for its second place finish.
The 2V8+ saw Chloe Minicucci (coxswain), Sophia Lamb (stroke), Kayla Driscoll, Avery Panico, Hannah Walseth, Lexie Hain, Valentina Frusone, Katie Ernst and Genevieve Rowlands cross the finish line with a time of 7:36.448 in Alleva XVII.
The closest race of the day came in the V4+ where Chloe Speciale (coxswain), Anna Kretzer (stroke), Rachel Civan, Sarah Ghazaz and Ariana Townsend battled Northeastern rowed Marci to an 8:32.238 clocking, less than a tenth of a second behind Northeastern.
In the 3V8+, competing in Cara Fry, Maddie Depommier (coxswain), Baylor Henry (stroke), Kira Tracy, Addison Devine, Fiona Steele, Margaret Dobrenko, Emily Ellis, Delaney Gellert and Julia Porro turned in a time of 7:51.535.
