PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel University men's soccer team announced its 2023 schedule on Thursday. The 16-game set includes eight contests at Vidas Field, eight against CAA competition and three matches against teams that took part in last season's NCAA Tournament.
The Dragons open the year with three in a row on the road, but stay close for the first two, beginning with a West Philadelphia rivalry match against Saint Joseph's on Thursday, August 24 at 7:00 p.m. Lafayette follows on Aug. 28 before Drexel gets CAA play underway on Sept. 2 with a trip to Charleston. DU plays its home opener against the newest conference opponent, Campbell, on Sept. 9. Two more on the road are next with trips to UMass Lowell (Sept. 12) and Monmouth (Sept. 16).
While the early part of the schedule is marked by away matches, the middle of the slate is dominated by games at home. On Sept. 19, local rival Temple visits Vidas Field, followed by Elon on Sept. 23. NJIT comes to Philadelphia on Sept. 26 prior to the Dragons playing their only road game in a three week span, at William & Mary on Sept. 30.
Three more home matches come in a row, starting with Delaware on Oct. 7. Lehigh and UNCW come to Vidas on Oct. 10 and 14, respectively. After back-to-back road games at Army (Oct. 17) and Hofstra (Oct. 21), Drexel closes the regular season at home with Fairleigh Dickinson on Oct. 25.
The Dragons went 7-5-6 last season and qualified for the CAA Tournament for the third consecutive season, advancing to the semifinals with a win against Northeastern in the First Round.
