Big 5 Schedule Set for Historic 2023-24 Campaign

Dragons to Host Temple in the DAC for First Time Since 1985
PHILADELPHIA – The schedule is set as a new era in Big 5 men's basketball begins in the 2023-24 season, culminating in the Big 5 Classic at the Wells Fargo Center.
In the new format, each of the six city's NCAA Division I men's basketball programs have been split into two pods of three teams. Each team will play the others in their pod at on-campus sites in a round-robin format.
Drexel will be part of Pod 1, which also includes La Salle and Temple. Pod 2 is comprised of Penn, Saint Joseph's and Villanova. The Dragons will begin the 2023-24 season with a Big 5 matchup at La Salle on Nov. 6. The following week, the Temple Owls will come to the Daskalakis Athletic Center for the first time since 1985. The Dragons and Owls will play on Nov. 14.
From those games, the schedule will be set for the Big 5 Classic, a tripleheader at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, Dec. 2. The first seed in each pod will compete for the Big 5 championship, the second-place teams in each pod will play for third place, and the third seeds will play for fifth place. Tickets for the Big 5 Classic will be available later this summer at wellsfargocenterphilly.com.
