PHILADELPHIA – Drexel's Director of Tennis Mehdi Rhazali has named Norman Patten an assistant men's tennis team coach. Patten joins Drexel with head coaching experience and exposure to the NCAA Division II Championship tournament.
"Norman is a great asset to our tennis program," Rhazali said. "He comes with lots of experience, understands how student-athletes develop and brings energy and enthusiasm to the program. I'm excited to work with him."
Patten previously worked at the helm of the Jefferson University men's tennis team for four years. He joined the team in 2019. Since then, he has led the Rams to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II National Championships after winning the regional tournament. He also helped his team achieve the highest sports team GPA in three of his four-year tenure. Most importantly, Patten was named the Wilson Intercollegiate Tennis Association Coach of the Year last year.
"I would like to thank Mehdi Rhazali for this amazing opportunity," Patten said. "I am excited to start, and I am looking forward to a great year. Go dragons!"
Patten earned his Bachelor of Science in business management and marketing and a minor in international business from West Chester in 2018. He obtained his Master of Business Administration from Jefferson University in May of 2022. Patten is currently pursuing a doctorate in public administration from West Chester.
