Dragons Upended by Stony Brook, 62-41

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Drexel women's basketball team was defeated by the Stony Brook Seawolves on Sunday afternoon, 62-41.
BY THE NUMBERS
Stony Brook dominated in the first half, outscoring the Dragons 32-11. However, Drexel held the league-leading scorers to just 62 points, the second-lowest this season.
Jasmine Valentine paced the Dragons with eight points and eight rebounds.
The Dragons forced 23 turnovers, which ties a season-high for Stony Brook.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stony Brook jumped to a early lead after shutting the Dragons out in the first quarter. Stony Brook scored 14 points in the first frame.
Drexel scored 11 points in the second quarter, but could not keep the Seawolves off the scoreboard. SBU pieced together an 18 point second quarter to head into the locker room with a 21 point lead.
The Dragons scored 14 points out of the break, shooting 4-for-12. However, Stony Brooks offense went 8-for-12 from the floor.
Drexel outscored the Seawolves in the final frame, 16-11. Led by Laine McGurk with five points, Drexel held SBU to a game-low 11 points.

Drexel returns to the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Friday, February 2 to host the Delaware Blue Hens 6 p.m. On Sunday, Drexel will travel south to Williamsburg, Va. to take on the William & Mary Tribe at 1 p.m.
