
Drexel Earns Regular Season Championship in Double Overtime Thriller at Delaware, 2-1

NEWARK, Del. – Drexel took down Delaware in double overtime, 2-1, to capture the CAA regular season title for the first time since 2010. The Dragons finished conference play undefeated, posting a 6-0 record. Drexel will host the CAA tournament at Buckley Field and will be the number one overall seed.
Drexel struck in the first quarter as Anna Castaldo scored her ninth goal of the season. The graduate student tallied after a Delaware penalty, firing a shot that just beat the Delaware goalie. This was her third straight game with a score.
The Hens bounced back in the second quarter to tie the game at one apiece. Taylor Vaccaro sprinted downfield to earn the unassisted tally.
Both teams battled in a scoreless second half, sending the Dragons to overtime for the second straight contest. With three minutes remaining in double overtime, Liz Chipman and Pilli Lemoine were able to set up Pien Elsen for the game-winning goal.
