Rella Earns Second Place Finish at Keystone Classic; Drexel Comes Home Fifth Overall

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel wrestling team came home in fifth place of eight teams at the 28th annual PRTC Keystone Classic at The Palestra. Lock Haven was the overall champion with 149.5 points.
Daniel Rella came back from 12-2 down in the third period to score a fall over Central Michigan's Cameron Wood in the 197 pound semi-finals. The freshman countered an attack with 1:34 left on the clock and quickly got the pin for the win. Rella fell in the first-place match to Tucker Hogan of Lock Haven by Technical Fall, 16-1.
Cody Walsh took home bronze for the Dragons at 165 pounds. The Cherry Hill, New Jersey native kept his opponent scoreless in the third-place bout. Walsh earned a takedown late in the final period, adding another point for riding time for the 5-0 decision win.
Ethan Wilson downed No. 28 Matthew Walsh in his consolation match. In the first period, the Redshirt sophomore secured the takedown and got the quick pin for the victory. Wilson fell in a high-scoring battle in the 3rd place match by decision, 16-10.
Jack Janda (Fourth), Jordan Soriano (Fourth), Dom Findora (Fifth), Luke Nichter (Seventh), Dom Petracci (Seventh), Kyle Waterman (Seventh) and Jonathan Fuller (Eighth) also placed for Drexel.
The Dragons return to action on Wednesday, December 4, when they take on Clarion on the road. Action can be seen on FloCollege at 7 p.m.
