RICHMOND, Va. – Patrick Short of the Drexel men's soccer team has been selected as the CAA's Co-Midfielder of the Year. In addition, Dominick Bachstein and Short were named to the All-CAA First Team. Colin Davis, Gavin Carmichael and Omar Jallow also garnered conference accolades.
In its first year of existence, the midfielder of the year award was given to both Short and Leonardo D'Ambrosio of Charleston. Short completed his graduate campaign with five goals and 10 assists for 20 points across 15 matches and 1221 minutes. Short concluded the season with a five-point performance against Charleston. In 2023, he was named to the All-CAA Third Team.
Dominick Bachstein finished his final collegiate season as one of the top goal-scorers in the nation. The graduate student finished with 30 points, the highest point performance of any Dragon since the team joined the conference in 2002. Bachstein leads the conference in multiple categories including goals and points heading into the conference tournament. The first team selection is Bachstein's first conference accolade in his career.
Davis finished the season with 1193 minutes played as an anchor on Drexel's backline and was selected to the All-CAA Second Team. In addition to his standout play on defense, Davis contributed two goals and added an assist. Drexel's defense held opponents to 24 goals this season and just 1.50 goals per game. The defense also pieced together three-straight shutouts in the middle of the season, including victories against Temple, Northeastern and FDU.

In his 1174 minutes of play, Carmichael scored two goals. In the team's match against Temple on September 10, Carmichael recorded the game-winning-goal in Drexel's 2-0 victory over the Owls.
Joining Carmichael on the All-Rookie team is Jallow. The Powder Springs, Ga. native scored three goals and tallied one assist this season across 722 minutes of play. His most important goal of the season came with 45 seconds remaining in the second half against William & Mary on October 19. The freshman scored on a diving header off a set piece to tie the match at one. Jallow also added tallies in two other conference matches, including Hofstra and Charleston.
Drexel will host a first-round game on Thursday as well as a semifinal contest at Vidas Field this week. Sixth-seeded UNCW will face third-seed Monmouth on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. The winner will stay in Philadelphia and face the Dragons on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. Drexel Head Coach Dave Castellanos, in his first season, is looking to win the school's first CAA title since 2013.
