Five Former Student-Athletes Named to Drexel 40 Under 40

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Athletics was well represented in the 40 Under 40 Class of 2024. Five former student-athletes were recognized in Drexel Magazine for their postgraduate accomplishments. Rachel Bernhardt, Paige DeAngelo, Daniel Grobman, Kira Karlstrom and Mike Radio all competed for the Dragons during their undergraduate days.
Bernhardt, who graduated from Drexel in 2017 with a BS in health sciences, is an occupational therapist at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, N.C. A professional swimmer, Bernhard became the first Drexel swimmer to make the United States National Team when she achieved the accomplishment in September.
DeAngelo is the founder and CEO of AER Cosmetics, based on a formula she devised for water-soluble, vegan, cruelty-free mascara that can be produced with tablets in a refillable tube. DeAngelo was on the Dance Team as an undergraduate and graduated with a communications degree in 2023.
Grobman graduated from Drexel in 2022 with a BA degree in entrepreneurship and innovation. He was a member of the wrestling team for five seasons. After graduation, Grobman became the owner of Mike's BBQ located in South Philadelphia.
Karlstrom, a 2007 graduate with a BS in graphic design, is now the head of label relations, content development and programming at Twitch in Los Angeles. A former standout on the women's basketball team, she played professionally before moving on to ESPN, where she won an Emmy for Art Direction at ESPN.
Radio earned a BS in mechanical engineering in 2007. He is the Associate Principal & Engineering Group Leader for Ballinger here in Philadelphia. Radio, who played basketball at Drexel, is helping advance an industry responsible for nearly 40% of the global energy related to carbon emissions towards a fossil-fuel-free world.
