Drexel Golf Closes Day One at Monument Golf Oldfield Invitational in South Carolina

OKATIE, S.C. - Oscar Maxfield fired an opening round 70 to lead Drexel as the Dragons competed in the Monument Golf Oldfield Invitational opening round at Oldfield Country Club. Drexel has two athletes in the top three and will resume play on Tuesday morning in second place overall behind South Carolina Beaufort by eight shots.
Maxfield birdied on four holes in the opening round of the day. He finished in second place overall at even par. Griffin Mitchell hit even par in the first round and finished two under par in the closing round of the day. Mitchell sits tied for third before Tuesday's action. Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa and Bank Apinyawuttikul sit in the middle of the pack and looks to improve on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,078-yard venue. South Carolina Beaufort is serving as the host school.
