Men's Tennis Takes Down Charleston, 4-2

PATRIOT POINT, S.C. – The Drexel men's tennis team defeated the Charleston Cougars, 4-3 on Tuesday evening in Patriot Point, S.C. The Dragons improve to 2-1 in conference play and 10-5 overall. It is the first win in program history for the Drexel men's tennis team against Charleston.
The Dragons captured the doubles point after winning both the first-seeded and third-seeded matches. Alex De Sousa and Alan Jesudason paired in the top-flight and defeated their opponents, 6-1, while Hussein El Tawil and Pierre Humayou earned a 6-0 victory in the third-seeded match.
In singles play, De Sousa and El Tawil each cruised to 6-2, 6-2 victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Down 3-0, Charleston won the first-seeded match and the No. 6 to pull within one, but Egor Kirakosov pulled out a three-set victory to clinch the conference victory for Drexel. Kirakosov defeated his opponent in the No. 5 match, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
The Dragons continue their conference slate on March 29 against the UNCW Seahawks in Wilmington, N.C. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
