Former Dragon Angelo Giantsopoulos Qualifies for PGA Tour Event

DETROIT, Mich. - Former Drexel standout Angelo Giantsopoulos qualified for his first-ever PGA Tour event on Monday. Giantsopoulos was part of a 5-for-4 playoff and advanced to play in the Rocket Mortgage Classic this weekend. He sank a 40-foot putt in the playoff at The Orchards Golf Club in Washington, Mich.
Giantsopoulos fired a 7-under 65 in qualifying, which tied him with Brandon Berry, Beau Breault, Danny Guise and Nick Bienz. Giantsopoulos made the birdie to advance out of the group, while the others played on. The field was finally completed on the eighth extra hole. Giantsopoulos had eight birdies on the day.
The Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club begins on Thursday morning. Giantsopoulos' only other tour-sanctioned event cam at the PGA Tour Canada's 2022 GolfBC Championship. He graduated from Drexel in 2022 and was a Second Team All-CAA pick.
