Drexel Finishes Eighth Overall at Mid-Major National Duals

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Drexel wrestling team finishes eighth overall, falling to Central Michigan in the seventh place bout at the NWCA Mid-Major National Duals Saturday afternoon at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Jordan Soriano and Desmond Pleasant both saw their hand raised in the content. The Dragons finished with a 2-3 record overall at the event, earning a pair of victories over No. 23 Calm Poly and No. 25 CSU Bakersfield.
Pleasant kicked things of for the Dragons. He earned two of his three takedowns in the first minute of the 125 pound match. The redshirt junior added an additional escape point in the third to take the 10-4 decision win over Grant Stahl.
Soriano had an impressive victory over Kell Aure at 141 pounds against Kellan Aure. Soriano scored the first points of the bout, securing a takedown in the opening three minutes to end the first with a 3-0 lead. The Westbury, New York native went to work in the final two minutes, collecting eight points on his way to a 12-2 major decision.
At 174 pounds, Jasiah Queen had another impressive performance in defeat. Queen battled back from an injury, but came up one point shy against No. 22 Alex Cramer in a 2-1 decision.
