PHILADELPHIA — Over 300 students and staff from the Lock Elementary School Drexel coaches and staff at the Drexel Vidas Play Day on Monday afternoon. The fifth annual event brings local grade school students to Drexel for a day of athletic activities. Vidas Field Play Day was coordinated by Drexel's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) alongside members of Drexel's varsity athletic teams.
Held in collaboration with University and Community Partners, the event encourages West Philadelphia students to stay active and to build their confidence through participation in athletic activities.
"Vidas Play Day is my favorite Drexel SAAC event that we have the privilege to put on," SAAC President Devyn Demchak said. "It is the event where Drexel student-athletes are able to make a direct impact on our West Philadelphia community. Honestly, it warms my heart to see my peers playing with the kids, spending time with their teammates, and enjoying themselves."
