Drexel Ends Homestand With 74-56 Win Over Maine

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's basketball team finished its three-game homestand with a 74-56 win over the Maine Black Bears Sunday afternoon. For the second straight game Victor Panov set a career high in points, scoring 19.
BY THE NUMBERS
Panov finished the afternoon shooting 60%, including 5-9 from beyond the three-point line, to go with two rebounds, an assist and a block.
Shane Blakeney scored 14 points to go with three rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block.
Ralph Akuta had a strong performance on both ends of the court, scoring four points to go with three rebounds and a block.
Eli Beard was 4-5 from three, finishing the night with 12 points and pulling in five rebounds.
The Dragons outrebounded the Black Bears 26-24. 20 of the 28 shots Drexel made came from assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Black Bears started the game with an 11-5 run before a layup from Josh Reed pulled the Dragons within four with 13:32 on the clock. Back-to-back threes from Panov and Villiam Garcia Adsten put Drexel ahead with 11:23 remaining.
A buzzer-beating three from Blakeney started a 10-6 Dragon run. Drexel led at halftime, 37-28.
The Dragons started the second half with a 15-6 run that was capped off by a layup from Kevon Vanderhorst at 13:01. The Black Bears went on a 7-0 run before Garcia Adsten put the Dragons up 15 with 5:49 remaining.
Drexel's defense held Maine to a single made three-pointer in the second half and only two all game. The Dragons shot 48.3% from three on the afternoon.
