Dragons of the Week: Smith and Snitko

PHILADELPHIA - Sebastian Smith and Sofiya Snitko were named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopedics, for the week of January 27th-February 2nd.
Sebastian Smith, member of men's swim and dive, helped the Dragons to a 2-0 weekend against Villanova and Arcadia. Against Villanova, Smith claimed victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.04 and contributed to the winning 400-yard medley relay alongside Theo Andreopoulos, Bartosz Loter, and Jakub Kwasny, finishing in 3:14.76. He also anchored the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Petar Pavalic, Nate Piccolo, and Colton Wade, helping Drexel secure another first-place finish in 1:22.69. In the Arcadia meet, Smith continued his dominance by winning the 100-yard breaststroke in 57.06. He also swam on the 200-yard medley relay team with Theo Andreopoulos, Alex Blacker, and Mohammed ElTayeb, who took first place in 1:33.00.
Sofiya Snitko, member of women's tennis, had an impressive weekend in Drexel's two game road trip against Siena and Syracuse. Against Syracuse in the two spot, Snitko same from behind to earn the singles win in a three-set battle against Anastasia Sysoeva, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. Against Siena, the freshman partnered with Bia Ibrahim in doubles, earning a key 6-4 victory over Andrea Vargas and Madeline De Faber-Schumacher to help Drexel secure the doubles point. In singles, she battled against Laia Giralt but came up short in a close three-set match, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8).
