
2V8+ Sinks UC San Diego on Day Two of the Redwood Shores Invitational

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The men's second varsity 8+ captured a win over UC San Diego on day two of the Redwood Shores Invitational in California. The Dragons went one for four on the day, with both teams falling to Cal and the V8+ team falling short to UC San Diego.
DU first battled the boats from Cal. The Varsity 8+ team, powered by Luke Joseph (Coxswain), Illia Chykanov (Stroke), Zoran Bosnic, Matthew Kennedy, Bartek Socha, Ben Werber, Kyle Brown, John Little and Andrew Manns, came home with a time of 6:20.4. Cal clocked in at 5:48.2.
The 2V8+ boat, rowed by Derek Kaiser (Coxswain), Nemanja Sajatovic (Stroke), Willem Kirsch, Jakob Mauntel, Nick Foley, Zach Key, Gavin Roe, Collin Gross and Aidan Ionescu (Bow) crossed the line at a time of 6:08.9. Cal finished with a time of 5:49.7
The 2V8+ had a dominant victory over UC San Diego. The team of Derek Kaiser (Coxswain), Nemanja Sajatovic (Stroke), Willem Kirsch, Jakob Mauntel, Nick Foley, Zach Key, Aidan Ionescu, Collin Gross, and Jono Andersson (Bow) defeated the Tritons by nearly 20 seconds. The Dragons raced across the line with a time of 6:25.7. The V8+ capped off their day against UC San Diego with a time of 6:24.2, four seconds behind.
The Dragons will wrap the Redwood Shores Invitational with two more races against Oregon State, starting at 9:00 a.m. PST tomorrow.
